Seasonal Korea: keep a good second plan

Enjoy the season without building your entire day around a photograph, a forecast or an unconfirmed event.

Treat seasonal pictures as inspiration

  • A photograph of blossoms, autumn leaves or snow does not tell you what the place looks like today. Conditions vary by year and by location.
  • For a festival, check the current year’s official announcement, venue and dates. An attraction page does not confirm that an event is running.
  • Look for cancellation or weather notices shortly before setting out, especially if the event is the main reason for your journey.

Build an outdoor and an indoor option

  • Choose a museum, gallery or other indoor stop you would still enjoy if the weather changes. Confirm that it is open that day.
  • Avoid packing a long transfer between the two options. The backup should make the day easier rather than add another difficult journey.
  • Check reservation arrangements for both choices. A rainy-day alternative is only useful if you can actually enter it.

Learn to change plans in Korean

  • Practise saying that it is raining, windy or too hot, then suggest the alternative you have chosen.
  • Ask a companion whether they would prefer to go inside or take a break. Short, clear choices are easier to discuss than a long explanation.
  • If you have bought a ticket, check its change and cancellation conditions with the operator. Do not assume that bad weather automatically means a refund.
