Find something local to do beyond sightseeing
A small neighbourhood programme can be easier to join than a major festival. Look for an activity you can attend comfortably and understand well enough to enjoy.

Check the actual event details
- Use the Seoul Culture Portal or an organiser’s current programme page.
- Confirm the venue, date, booking requirement and whether admission is paid or free.
- Check the language, accessibility and cancellation arrangements before setting off.
If you want to volunteer
- Search a current listing through a recognised volunteer portal or local foreign-resident facility.
- Ask about the tasks, language needs, minimum age and commitment.
- Confirm whether the activity suits your circumstances instead of assuming every listing accepts visitors.
Make participation manageable
- Choose one nearby activity and save the organiser’s contact.
- Keep the booking confirmation and check for a last-minute update.
- If plans change, cancel promptly so another person can take the place.

A Korean SIM: data access is not identity verification
A plan that gets you online may not support every Korean sign-up or identity check. Decide what you need before comparing the cheapest data offer.
Find a library you can actually use each week
A nearby library can be a useful place to read, study and find local programmes. Borrowing, seat booking and digital access may each have different rules.
Opening a bank account: call the branch first
A short call can save a second trip. Ask the branch what it needs for your status and the purpose of the account, rather than arriving with a generic list.
Rubbish and recycling: ask about your building
The right bag is only half the answer. The collection place, day and method can differ by district and building.
